I moved to Los Angeles to get a Masters in Professional Writing with emphasis on dramatic writing from the University of Southern California. Since then, I’ve had two full length plays, Searching for Americanaand Hardcore: Women’s Reflections on Iraq produced as well as optioned Romeo, Juliet, and Rosaline to Amazon Studios with my writing partner, Koji Sakai.
I’ve been published in a Smith and Kraus anthology, 161 Monologues from Literature and Kids Comedic Monologues that are Actually Funny. I have had several ten minute and one act plays read and produced in San Diego, New York, Los Angeles, Orange County, Colorado, North Dakota, Missouri, Indiana, and Australia.
I also served as the managing director for a small subversive theatre company called the Hunger Artists from 2006-2008. While there I started an international playwriting festival, Beyond Convention, and produced it for five years.
I have worked in theatre and film through internships at DreamWorks, John F. Kennedy Center of Performing Arts, and Actors Theatre of Louisville. I’m currently a member of WGA and Fell Swoop Playwrights.
I currently teach analytical writing at the University of California, Irvine and have taught classes for UC Online Education.
